Lopon Karma was born in 1987 in a small farming village in Bhutan where he began Buddhist practice at age seven. By age 15 Lopon Karma began studies at Ngagyur Nyingma Institute in Mysore, India. Lopon Karma excelled in his learning and therefore started teaching at the young age 29, after he completed a masters degree in Buddhist philosophy, alongside accomplishing the three root practices of Nyingtik and Namcho Ngondro four times over. Lopon Karma Tshewang root teachers include His Holiness Pema Norbu Rinpoche and Lama Palden Chodrup. From them he received numerous teachings including Dzogchen and Tsalung. Lopon Karma has received teachings from H.E. Yangthig Rinpoche, H.H. Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, Tulku Thupten Palzang Rinpoche, Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, Dusi Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and many others. At present Lopon Karma is a professor at Palyul Urgen Choling College in Pharping, Nepal, where he teaches students the higher levels of Buddhist philosophy. He maintains his personal practices alongside teaching, taking annual extended retreats. Lopon Karma is now generously offering his expertise to students across Europe. Teachings are held in English.

This year, Lopon Karma Tshewang is teaching in Nepal but also online via Zoom.
